After I clean it, I still smell urine!
- FACT: Urine contains salt
- FACT: Salt is activated by humidity which causes the smell
- FACT: Remove the salt and you remove the smell
- FACT: A pet will never urinate where their food is. (*hint, lol)
Does it seem like no matter how often you scrub your carpet clean,
you can still smell the urine? Urine is of course water based and
contains salt. Once the urine dries, the salts which are left behind
are activated by accessive humidity (or rainy days). If you're selling
your home and have pet urine problems, your real estate agent will
probably tell you to turn on your air-conditioning (which removes
humidity) and will disipate the urine smell.
Urine immediately soaks into the padding & subfloor. Our job is to
expose these areas and replace the padding. Once padding has
been replaced & subflooring etched/sealed, we reinstall your carpet
into place and put your furniture back to its original location.
